The South Australia Department for Education’s Instrumental Music team and Charanga are offering a Professional Learning Program to all classroom teachers who want teaching and learning in schools to be fun, relevant and inspiring. No prior experience or knowledge of music teaching is required.

Taking place at the Education Development Centre (EDC) in Hindmarsh, the Program will be led by experts Madeleine Casson (Education Director, Charanga), and Amelia Monaghan (Instrumental Music Leader – School Program Development).

As part of an MoU, teachers will be asked to commit to two full days of training at the EDC on 20 January and 17 July, with set tasks to complete in-between. For more details please contact

Teachers who complete the Program will receive certification in line with the Australian Professional Standards.

While all professional development costs will be covered, attendees will be responsible for their travel and accommodation.

We had a great Charanga workshop on Kangaroo Island last week and are already using it in our classrooms. The kids love Charanga and we’re having such fun with music!
